What Is Holistic Medicine? Know The Facts Before Starting Treatment
The Canadian Holistic Medical Association defines holistic medicine as a type of health care which holds a working relationship between involved parties, and is geared toward the "optimal attainment" of all aspects of health including those that are mental, physical, social, emotional, and spiritual.Holistic medicine stresses the need to consider a person's entire body, including the evaluation of every value that he or she may hold. This includes things like the patient's nutrition, emotional strength, physical state, mental history, as well as many other factors. It does not dismiss or disregard any other type of treatment including the use of drugs and surgery, especially if no other alternative treatment is available. Holistic medicine also encourages that patients be responsible for their own personal efforts to heal themselves as well.
Holistic, or Alternative Medicine, basically involves techniques and treatments that are not currently accepted by traditional, or "conventional" practitioners. However, these treatments are accepted as being "quickly changing", meaning that they have the potential to become an accepted form of treatment. This also means that forms of treatment that are categorized as alternative medicine will eventually be referred to as forms of "conventional" medicine.
Whether or not you currently have an ailment or condition that needs treatment, it is recommended by many that you consider holistic options and the best way to learn about them is to speak with a homeopathic doctor or practitioner.
